Job Overview

This role requires an individual who is self-motivated with a high level of organisational skills and who also has excellent written and oral English. You will also need strong secretarial and computer skills, including Microsoft Office and experience using iSAMS MIS. Previous work experience in a school is desirable but not essential. This position involves contact with, and taking responsibility for, children and will amount to ‘regulated activity’. He or she will be expected to communicate with parents and represent the welcoming and open-door ethos of the school.


This role has many duties that come with it – here are just a few listed to show an example of what is expected:


  • Act as first point of contact within the school, filtering both telephone and email enquiries, as appropriate, and taking and passing on messages to all staff
  • Support the Deputy Head (Academic) in the maintenance of the school’s MIS data, including compiling reports
  • Meet all deadlines for the efficient running of the school (e.g. reports, planning etc.)
  • Carry out supervisory duties, including playground and lunch supervision, as required
  • Provide general assistance to the Deputy Heads with day-to-day activities
  • Manage and organise the diary and make appointments for the Deputy Heads
  • Liaise with senior schools and arrange visits for Deputy Heads / booking travel
  • Support the Deputy Head (Academic) throughout the future schools’ process
  • Assist in managing the assessment spreadsheets for the whole school
  • Assist and liaise with the Human Resources Manager regarding recruitment and recruitment procedures
  • Attend staff and departmental meetings, open days, briefings, assemblies, INSET days, parent consultations and other school events, as required
  • Carry out supervisory duties, including playground and lunch supervision, as required
  • Organise and attend meetings and take notes/minutes, book courses and order equipment, as needed
  • Coordinate the organisation of senior school events
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of pupils
